Obi, short for Obi-Wan Kenobi (remember the Star Wars theme for Cycle 20?) was named Dakota at the shelter. Obi came into the shelter as a stray, and we were immediately captivated by this handsome boy! Obi is a Duck Tolling Retriever mix. True to his breed, has a beautiful burnished red coat, and is a small compact retriever who is highly attentive to his surroundings. Not typi cal to this breed is the darker saddle blanket coloring over his back, and his more low-key demeanor, so we know there is a mystery breed in there too! The saddle blanket coloring looks a bit GSD, but he seems a bit small to have GSD and retriever in him - he's a mystery for sure!
Duck tolling retrievers are high energy working dogs, but this boy is more laid back, and a true medium energy dog. He is under 50 pounds right now, with a few more pounds to put on, and should fill out to right around 50 pounds.
Obi likes everyone he meets, and is highly tolerant of other dogs. His energy level and affectionate nature will make this boy a great family dog - energetic enough to play, and gentle enough for children.
Obi is available to be pre-adopted, and will be ready to go to his forever home after graduation in early May. Get your application in early for this looker - he's sure to be popular! Adoption applications can be found on our website - www.caninecellmates.org
