My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

12/22/09 - This little guy is coming along really well! *S*  He loves going to the park with my dogs and meeting new friends, he is socializing very nicely at the dog park.  He will pull back when someone he doesn't know wants to pet him but when told it's okay he'll inch forward.
He's the sweetest little boy, loves cuddling and contact.
I am feeding him puppy food, I believe he might only be 11 months old.
Lot's of energy, this guy needs plenty of exercise or else he will become destructive.  He does respond to his name.  About crating, he does well at night we have the crate in our bedroom although somehow he never ended up in the crate last night and slept in bed, he rolls around a lot and kicks!. *L*  Still working on crating him during the day.  I leave the crate open so that he starts to walk in on his own and knows it's a good place.  He is not doing well during the day in the crate, he becomes very upset, barking and crying and has had two accidents when being in the crate for an hour or so, this is something that really needs patience and time which he is receiving.  He had his run this morning and before I leave for a couple of hours I will run him again before going into the crate and give him a Kong filled with peanut butter and chew toys.  Buddy likes to chew everything, very much in that puppy stage of chewing, working on this with him.  He's a great watch dog!   He plays very rough with my GSPs so I am not sure how he would do with a cat.  Buddy is coming along nicely, he's a love bug but still needs work on crating and house breaking.

12/15/09 - Update from Buddy's foster Mom:  Buddy has been with me since 12/12/09 and much improvement has been noted, he is coming out of his shell.  He is still timid and not fully sure of everything but he is starting to trust.  This morning he has made a big stride by coming back into the house with more assurance, still hesitant but will come in much easier, he doesn't seem to realize it's okay to come in.  He is still in the chewing stage like any puppy and working on house training.  Weight is 37lbs and will be constantly monitored.  I feed him twice a day and eats so fast that I've added a Kong in his dish to try and slow him down *L*

He is great with my other two GSPs, loves to play, he'll go outside and plays with my pups.  Another thing, he's great with the kids, I have 3 children in the house, ages 7-10 years old, he's great with them, no problems.  I would not advise placing in a home with toddlers due to being very scared of any fast movements at this time.  No aggression shown with food or anything else.

Lot's of energy!  Walks well on a leash, my older son took him plus my 2 dogs for a walk and he did well, it was a mile hike!

If you want a pup to cuddle with this is the boy.  He very much wants to love and please and he so wants to know he is safe and someplace where he will be loved.  He now rolls on his belly and loves tummy rubs, he comes to me and just melts into me as I hug him, he's so loving.  He's the cutest thing running around and he'll show you just how cute he is.

Does well in the crate, he sleeps in his crate and had no problems, sleeps through the night.  I'll see how he does in the crate when I go away for a couple of hours today but he keeps it clean.  Still a little unsure when I open the door to let him out, I let him come out on his own, he's doing so much better because he's learning to trust people again. Also please remember he is in a puppy stage, he wants to chew things, please have patience with him, he's a very wonderful loving boy that is a puppy.  Can't say enough about this guy, I love him!

It's funny to watch him, he does not know what a TV is, he'll stop and watch it, sees his image in the mirror or on something shiny and he'll stop and stare, this is all new to him.

Best way to sum up Buddy, he's a very loving puppy and I know when it's time for me, his foster mom to let him go with his forever home it will be very hard.  He's a good boy and deserves a very loving family.

Hi...I'm Buddy!  My name should be 'Lucky'...my former owner didn't like me because I wouldn't point so he was going to 'do away with me' but a nice man was at the shooting preserve and rescued me.  He's now my foster Dad and I sure am glad he was there to save me!

I am only about 9 - 10 months old, and I'm about 40 lbs, so I've still got some growing to do. I'm just cute as a button!

The rescue people that saved me can't be sure if I'm a GSP or an English Pointer or a mix of both, so you'll just have to see me for yourself!

Because of the way I was treated by my original owner, I'm a bit standoffish.  I really do want to trust people but I am very shy right now.  My foster family is working with me on that.  I think people are good but I am hesitant to approach anyone.  I really need someone who will be patient with me and help me learn that all people are good, so I can develop into the boy I know I can be and finally get the life I deserve with a family of my own who loves me!

Once you get ahold of me, though, I am a big mush!  I am a really sweet boy and love human affection.

Oh, and I like other dogs A LOT!   I'm good with kids, too...but I'd like it if they were a little bit older so that they won't run and charge at me, because that's too scary for me.

I'm not going to be a hunter, because I don't know how to find birds with my nose, but I do like to carry them gently around if I see them!!!!!!

My foster parents just got me up to date with all my veterinary care.

I'm not living inside of a foster home just yet, but I hope to be really soon so that I get a chance at that 'indoor living' I hear so much about!

But, my foster parents think that I will be relatively easy to housebreak, as I keep my kennel area clean.

If you are patient and will help me learn to trust people, please come meet me!  I will make it worth your while!  Please email the rescue volunteers at GSPrescueNJ@hotmail.com and ask for an adoption application.
