My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 10/29 from Cosmo's foster mom:  Cosmo is a typical high energy GSP boy.  Loves to run, play and have someone to throw the ball.  Very much family oriented, wants to be with his family, very affectionate.   House broken, starting to know a couple of commands.  Walks well on a leash, sometimes a gentle tug is needed.

Somewhat hesitant with new people but warms up when he  becomes familiar with his surroundings.  He will need an adjustment period, took about 5-6 days till he finally felt safe and he was someplace where he is loved.  No food aggression shown, a couple of times I moved his food while he was eating, no aggression at all.  No aggression shown to others.  Able to open his mouth when he gets into the garbage and take whatever he has out.

He is very much in a puppy stage, will go after things in the house, and needs to be monitored until he grows out of this.  Very much in a chewing stage, plays rough, he doesn’t understand at this point he’s playing rough, he’s a young pup that just wants to play.  Does well with other dogs, constantly playing with my female GSP, although he does play rough with her but she’s up to it.  Crate trained, until you can trust him I would crate him when awhile from the home.  Sleeps well at night in the crate, still needs to gain weight, probably 10 lbs.

Better for a family with older children due to his rough play.  Does well in the house, I leave his crate open while I’m home and most of the time if he wants quiet time he will go in the crate on his own, he seems to feel very secure in his crate.

Hi...I'm Cosmo!  I came  to NJ from a high kill shelter in OH where I was picked up as a stray.  I've met a lot of nice people in my travels and can't wait to get started on my new life with a family of my own!

I was exposed to little dogs and GSPs and I liked them all, I do play a little rough and did try to mount one female, but, again, I'm a boy, people!  This is to be expected when I first meet a new girl!

have a beautiful stance and I prance when I walk as if I was a show dog...I hold my head high, my tail is straight up in the air and I pick my knees up like I am marching...wait until you see it!

I may have some hunting potential, I did point a few times in the shrubs today and when I go out and walk around, I constantly have my nose to the ground and I go back and forth like a good hunting dog would do covering all the grounds.

I'm not scared of noises or anything and I'm very well rounded...my tail is always wagging and I love everyone I meet.

Stay tuned for some updates as I get settled in my foster home!  If you are interested in adopting me and giving me my forever home, please email the rescue girls at
gsprescuenj@hotmail.com and ask them for an adoption application!
