My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is a cross post for someone who needs assistance rehoming a GSP they rescued. Please read her story below. If you are interested in adopting Daisy, please contact Michelle @ msalyers@gsprescuenj.org. Transportation can be arranged. About a month and a half ago I was having dinner w/my boyfriend and while we were eating we saw a dog running down the street. I freaked out and we packed up and left. We found her and finally got her to come to us. She had on an electric collar and a collar w/a tag. I called thinking that her owners must be sick to their stomachs with worry and they told me they could contact them and then have them call me to come get her. The guy finally called that afternoon and asked if he could come get her electric collar but he didn't want her. She is a purebred gsp. She is a pretty girl and very smart. I love her and I didn't want her to go back to a home where she wasn't wanted. She had not been socialized. I guess he got her someone gave her to him and he wanted a hunting dog. Well Daisy is guy shy and is also extremely terrified of storms and any lound noises. She is a houdini and can escape fences. She also is the type to run from you when she is being called. She was never trained. She is about five. I got her into obedience training. She is doing well but she doesn't seem to have a lot of drive. She does well at class but as the hour ends she is done. It doesn't matter about treats or any of it. She is a good dog she was just never worked. I don't think the prior owner knew what to do with her. So here is where I need your help. I already have two dogs. Phoebe and Baker. A cattle dog and a leopard dog. Both rescues. I am going through some things with my cattle dog health wise that has been hard for me and she and Daisy do not get along. I don't want Phoebe to get hurt because she has had some health problems. Also the biggest problem is my little Martin (also a rescue) Kitty. I have been working and working with Daisy in hopes that she may be cat safeÂ….I just don't think that she is and I don't want to take the chance of something happening to Martin. I have to keep her separate and I hate it. I feel guilty and I can't help but think there is someone out there who may not have a cat and who is more familiar with this breed that may be able to give her a great life that she deserves. My boyfriend and I love her so much and it took a lot to come to this decision. She is almost thru her obedience classes. I think we have two more. She is doing well but who ever her new owner is will have to work with her a lot. She was never socialized. She is only good from what I can tell with very docile male dogs. She hasn't gotten along with any females yet and really needs to go to a home w/o any kittys. Please let me know if you can help me. She can stay here until we found her a forever home.
