My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Peggy. No one knows my real age, and I'm not telling, but the vet that recently examined me and did my surgery says I'm between 10 - 12 years old. A lady never tells, so it's a secret! I'm a graceful old gal, but I've got spunk when I need to! I'm just about 60 lbs, but I'm so gentle you'd think I was one of those little pocket dogs! I was taken away from my owner with my 2 GSP siblings because of neglect. We were taken to the humane society and then rescued by these nice girls. I went into foster care, where I have a foster GSP brother and a foster GSP sister. I get along well with other dogs, but I'd be perfectly fine as an only dog. I tend to be more 'ladylike' than most dogs and I just like to lounge around. Don't get me wrong, a few minutes with a tennis ball playing catch is always appreciated! I had a very large tumor on my rear leg, which was removed last week. It was non-cancerous, thankfully and I am healing quite nicely. I hope today should be my last follow-up trip to the vet for a while. I have a few health issues that are being treated right now....I've got hookworm, I'm lyme positive and I have a touch of bronchitis, but that could just be a side effect from the hookworms. I will be completely through with my medications in time to go to my forever home and all cured! I'm also deaf. At first, no one realized it. But, when I am sleeping at my foster home, they slam the doors and walk in and out and I don't even move. My foster Mom goes in front of me and waves or taps me lightly on the shoulder and I wake up and get on with our day. But I do know when someone wants me to do something. I pay very close attention with my eyes to make up for my lack of hearing. Funny thing is my brother is blind and he compensates with his ears! I love affection, and like to hang out and chew on some nice bones. I would make a great companion for someone that wants a new best friend. I'm pretty low maintenance, you don't have to worry about me getting in trouble at all, but I still have enough energy to go for long walks (once I'm completely healed) and play ball. I'm just the right amount! Not too much, not too little. So, while I love being in foster care, I really want a place to live the rest of my years with a forever family. I'm an older girl, but deserve a new start...won't you give me the chance I deserve? You won't be disappointed! You can follow my blog to see my whole story at www.egspcrppeggy.blogspot.com. Oh, and my brother has a blog, too: www.egspcrpotto.blogspot.com. If you are interested in giving me a chance, please email the nice rescue girls that saved us, at GSPrescueNJ@hotmail.com and ask for an adoption application.
