My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adorable Garnet is a not very senior-ish senior....as a stray his age is hard to determine, 8-10 being the best guess. He is still rather youthful. A Pomeranian for Pomeranian lovers who understand the breed, he is fluffy and adorable, alert and brilliant, loves to be held, has adorable dances for attention, lives to be spoiled and of course is very charming ;) He tolerates dogs of all shapes and sizes, and unlike some Poms does very well with children. NOTE!!!!! Garnet is either mostly or fully deaf, and that brings him challenges. He is quick to startle, at which time he shows the sharpness that this breed can be known for, and more naturally on the defensive. Simple protocols to let him know that you are approaching is all he requires. We have not known him to bite, but he can be quite reactive and show a lot of bravado when he is startled. He also does not like to feel cornered, so while he enjoys entering crates for nap time, the enclosing of him in a crate needs to be built up to, at a point when he is comfortable with you. Once you get used to his antics, it is more a day in the life and rather humorous. Part of his quirky charm. Additionally, his housebreaking needs a lot of work, so he is not a dog for the houseproud, and as is breed typical can be barky. Despite this, his charms are endless and he is terrifically sweet and companionable, and will bring much joy to a Pomeranian lover for years to come.

THE RIGHT HOME for Garnet would do best to be established as Pomeranian loving. Garnet brings all the charm the breed is known for.... loving, loyal, cuddly, sassy, flirty and brilliant. Lots of fun to be around. He wants to be the prince, so while he can certainly be around other dogs, we know he would be happiest as your one and only. He would love to be appointed as your favored companion and is well suited to the role. Garnet does well on his own and has no separation anxiety, so can adapt to a variety of schedules. That you flourish him with attention when you are around is all he demands ;)

Applications are available on our southpawsexpress.org website, or via contacting Lucy at maramuser@gmail.com Garnet's adoption fee is $450
