Here's what the humans have to say about me:
(Please read fully) What an incredible boy, simply stunning! He is not actually through our rescue but we are assisting the current owners find this big boy a new home. Dexter was originally bought from a breeder and possibly the family did not know what they were getting into. King Shepards are HUGE, they can be in the 150 pound range, which is what Dexter currently weighs at just 1 1/2 years old. We are guessing he is a king Shepard since most male shepards top out around 70-80 pounds at most. King shepards are a fairly new 'breed' that is gaining notoriety. They are incredibly smart, eager to please and can make excellent companions. The original family simply did not have enough time or space for this big pup to exercise, which is important for any dog but this fella needs some room to stretch and use some of that puppy energy. His current family took him in from a friend of a friend and got him fully vetted. They have also taught him several basic commands such as sit, down, lay, paw and are working on more. He is great on a leash, loves car rides and is a sucker for his squeaky toys and a good game of fetch. Dexter is totally housebroken, lives with older kids and a few dogs. BUT--he is experiencing some anxiety with some dogs so they feel he needs to go to a dog and cat free home for the time being. Dexter is a marvelous boy, BUT he needs an experienced owner that will work on his social skills and help him develop healthy interactions with dogs of all shapes and sizes. Being a teenager with limited social exposure in his puppyhood he simply needs to get his skills up to par. The famly wants the best for this big boy, he has been through enough and is ready for his very own happily ever after. They are looking for a person with plenty of shepard experience, has tons of time and a very large fenced area to stay active in. When responding please tell us a little about yourself, we would appreciate a little info about you, thanks!!. Dexter has an adoption fee is $450, please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com
