My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Marlena! Marlena (called Marley by her foster mom) found herself in a scary shelter on the euthanasia list because the shelter was full. She couldn't tell us her story or how she ended up there, but she did show us immediately how incredibly kind, gentle, and sweet she is. Marlena appears to have been used for breeding and clearly has raised many litters of puppies. She is now guessed to be 5-6 years old and she wants nothing to do with dogs who are hyper - she quickly puts them in their place just like a mama dog does to her puppies. Marlena has one wish - just to lounge around and cuddle with her humans. She wants to follow you around and lay with you on the couch. She wants a soft bed to sleep in and good food to eat. She is excellent with children and clearly loves kids, and is being fostered with two young kids. Marlena will share her family if she has to, but only with a dog who will ignore her and not try to incite her to play. She just doesn't have the tolerance for playful pups anymore. She would probably be happiest as the only dog. Marlena is NOT good with cats - she definitely wants to go after them in an aggressive way (even dog-friendly cats), so we will not consider a home for her that has any cats.

Marlena is about 40 lbs and is full grown, but she is slightly underweight, which we have begun to remedy with good groceries. Marlena is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. She has been tested (negative) for heartworm and is on preventative. Marlena is housebroken, not at all destructive, and is a very laid back, calm girl who just really wants a family to call her own. It may take her a little while to warm up, but once she does, she is SUPER kind and sweet!
