RESCUING FABIO

Fabio came from a cruelty case, but we were able to take him into our program and get him healthy. He was packed with intestinal parasites and coccidia, but he has made a full recovery and only his scars remain.

ABOUT FABIO

Fabio is a black pit bull with many, many scars. Jason lovingly named him Fabio because although most would look at him and be frightened (or maybe even not notice him at all), Fabio is a handsome boy to us. Fabio is a small guy, weighing in at about 40 lbs. One would think he would love the comfort of an Air Conditioned home after living outside for so long, but this couch potato of a guy really enjoys sunning on the porch or in the yard. (Seriously, the sun is his favorite!) He is a laid-back, chill guy that will get excited zoomies at feeding time, but afterwards he will curl up on his bed to lounge or nap. He is also good in the tub for bath time and will occasionally chew on a Nylabone to keep him self occupied. He has not been destructive in his foster home. Fabio has a hole in his palate that we tried to have surgically repaired to no avail. Because of this, he eats soft food. Although hard food may irritate the soft tissue of his palate, Fabio is perfectly content eating soft food, he has never been bothered by this odd, genetic malformity, and we don't expect it to cause him any issue in the future.

When he first came to us, Fabio was a little disconnected with people, but he has since fallen head over heels for any kind of human affection. If you spend any time with him, it is instantly obvious that his affection for people is astronomical. He has high desire to please and, in true pittie fashion, he is very emotionally connected now. He loves having visitors and gets excited to meet new people. Although Fabio has exponential love for all people, he needs to be the only pet in the home. He is happiest when snuggled up with you (he's a VERY good snuggler) and he can be a little eager about bed-time. In the late evening, he will tell you it's bed time. He is not a big barker so the only time you'll typically hear him make noise is during feeding time or when he's telling you it's bed time. Due to his unfortunate start in life, being in public and seeing other dogs can stress him out so he would love a family that likes to spend time with him at home. Fabio is ready to crawl into your lap, give you cute little kisses, and steal your heart!

More about this rescue

Friends to the Forlorn Pitbull Rescue is a 501 c 3 no-kill, charitable organization dedicated to the care of homeless, unwanted, abused, and neglected pitbulls, particularly those who are considered hard to place or with special needs. All dogs under our care are provided with food, shelter, veterinary care, as well as basic house-training and obedience until placement is found. We will try to match the dog and appropriate, loving, and permanent home based on the dog's temperament & personality evaluation as well as the prospective home's vet & home check. Veterinary care provided will ensure that the dog is in general good health, up-to-date on vaccinations, and spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

Additionally,"Friends to the Forlorn" Pitbull Rescue Inc. takes pride in educating the public in the importance of proper and responsible pitbull ownership, spaying & neutering, as well as the humane care and treatment of all animals.
