Magic is a very lucky boy to have escaped death at Animal Control. He joined BAARK’s Rescue & Adoption Program last year, another senior black dog dumped at Chicago Animal Control by an owner who no longer wanted him. So sad that Magic has been with us for so long…another big black dog!
Magic is a very handsome boy, 8-9 years old, about 65 lbs. We are not certain of his breed but he appears to perhaps be a Lab – Shepherd Mix…with those big pointy ears! He’s friendly but cautious, very well-mannered, an overall low-maintenance kind of guy. While Magic can co-exist with other dogs, he definitely prefers calm, senior dogs like himself. Magic is said to have previously lived with cats….he may be OK with a senior cat who will not startle him with quick movements. In addition to napping and sleeping, Magic loves long walks and car rides…he walks nicely on a leash but at a quick pace and he’s a GREAT passenger!! Magic would be very stressed by dog parks, doggy day care, or over-active children.
In spite of his neglectful past, Magic is a well-balanced, personable boy who most definitely deserves a wonderful home of his own. He’s just looking for a quiet peaceful place to spend his twilight years, and have a family of his own to care for him and share his life. An adult home is preferred. No children under the age of 12 years.
Like all of BAARK’s dogs, Magic is fully vetted, neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm tested and on year-round heartworm preventative, and microchipped. Magic is in excellent overall health.
