8/3/09 - George here. Had a little problem recently where my back right hip popped out of socket. Boy was that painful. The vet popped it back in, wrapped it up for a couple days to see if it would stay in place. Well, Saturday we unwrapped it and took x-rays and found out that it had popped out again. So today I am going in for surgery to have the ball removed from my hip socket so it will not be able to continue to pop out of place. I will still be able to use my leg, just not as normal as I used to, which wasn’t 100% anyway since I had the grade 4 luxating patellas to begin with. Don’t worry about me though, after the recuperation time, I’ll be fine. Well, I better go, they need to prep me for surgery. Just wanted to keep you abreast of my condition so when you fill out the application to adopt me, you will know everything that I do.
6/24/09 - George realizes that his age is probably intimidating people from filling out an application for him, but he wants everyone to know that even though he is always up for a good nap, he does like to “get around”. He and his foster family go for regular outings to Baskin Robbins and social events and he is up for anything. He does not seem to give two cents about other animals though when he sees them on his outings. It’s as if they are foreign to him. So George would either do best in an only pup household, a household with a cat or other pups like him that do not really care to interact a lot.

5/17/09 - The groomer performed her magic on me recently, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to let you see my new summer haircut. Foster mom and I decided to go shorter for the season and it feels great. I know you are sitting there looking at my handsome face wondering if you should add a senior pup with no teeth to your family. I think it's a no-brainer, but then again, I'm biased.

3/11/09 - George here. I went back to the dogtor today and all in one big swoop, they took away my manhood and those rotten teeth (neither of which I needed to live a great life) Now I’m a new man ready for my new home.

3/5/09 - Hi! My name is George. You can call me King George, or you can call me Curious George, or your can call me George of the Jungle, or your can call me “Just George”. I arrived at my foster home on 3/2/09 and went and saw the dogtor on 3/3/09. Boy, he was not pleased with the way my teeth looked. I knew something in there was hurting and didn’t feel right. He said that I have 7 teeth left that are all infected and rotten and will need to be extracted after I am on pain medication and antibiotics for a little while. Having those stumps removed will suit me just fine, because I love soft dog food and eat heartily. My weight of 6 lbs. is proof of that since I could stand to lose ½ to 1 lb.
Also, luxating patellas are very common in yorkies and mine are a grade 4, which means my back patellas (knee caps) are slightly out of place and cannot be manipulated back into place by hand. He thinks they have been this way for quite some time now and scar tissue has built up around it. I have compensated very well, and he doesn’t think it is causing me any pain. I just walk a little stiffed legged. After watching me walk, and taking my age into account, the vet does not recommend patella surgery since he thinks it would be more traumatic to have it done.

So let’s see, I’m a 11 years young/old, walk with a cute semi-stiff waddle and have no teeth. Some would call that “senior”, I just call it “growing old gracefully” and loving every minute of it. My eyes are in perfect condition, my blood work came back with flying colors and my hearing is good (if I choose to listen to you). I’m quite the spry little fellow, with a mild-mannered attitude and sweet disposition. I like to follow my human around, give licks when picked up and have just learned about this “belly rubs” thing. Isn’t that just the cherry on the top of my ice cream sundae. Also, I’m not one of the chauvinistic men that thinks being carried around by his female owner isn’t manly. I sleep great through the night snuggled up to my foster mom (this bed thing gets four stars from me) and you could say that I am somewhat housetrained (if I’m brought out enough). Although, I’m sure at first I would have accidents in my new home just because of the stress of moving again and learning new people. I cannot go to a home with small children since I am so small and will need an enjoyable, calm atmosphere to live in.

I have plenty of good years left and just know that there is a great home out there for me. I’m actually already planning my 18th birthday party (which is 7 years away). Then I’ll be of legal age and can maybe drink at my party. Signing off for now. King George!
