My story

This is Percy (HWTH#18138A). She is a German Shepherd mix, DOB: 7/9/17. Percy weighs 47 pounds and stands 21 inches at the shoulders now with just a little more growing and some filling out to do. Her previous owners got her as a small pup, they live in a mobile home park and Percy has out-grown the space they have for her. She is also a really high-energy girl who needs room to run and an active owner willing to give her the love, good-quality human companionship, playtime, exercise and training necessary for Percy to reach her full potential. Percy is a beautiful girl, very loving and is searching for her pack leader. She could be a good running companion, hiking dog, possibly a good dog to get involved in a dog sport - anything that will gives her exercise, your companionship and gives her a purpose. When Percy is thoroughly settled in her new Forever home, she will benefit from positive basic obedience training to help with leash training and the bonding process. Once Percy has bonded with her new owner, she will make a most loyal canine companion. She is crate trained. For more information on Percy, please call Sandy at tele # 661-824-4495 (this is a land-line phone).

Percy doesn't come to Petco or A Better Way Pet Care. She can be seen at the rescue by calling Suzanne Poth at 661-824-4393 to make arrangements.

Percy does not do well with other animals and requires a very experienced handler.

We believe Percy would be best in a home with no kids under the age of 10 years.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption procedure includes an application to make sure the dog and the people will be a good match, an adoption fee to cover the cost for shots, spaying or neutering, and a home check. Halfway to Home dogs are adopted out to be part of the family, and many of them are housetrained, if not, we ask that you are willing to undertake that task. Our dogs are intended to be indoor/outdoor family members. Doggie doors are a plus.

Go meet their pets

Come and see us every Saturday & Sunday, rain or shine from 11am to 3pm at the westside Palmdale Petco, 39522 10th St. West, Suite A, just north of Target and just west of the Aldi grocery market, phone #661-267-2447.

We also are at A Better Way Pet Care in Lancaster from 10am-2pm. This location will be SATURDAY only. Located in Lancaster at 202 West Ave. J, phone #661-948-3939.

Because Petco stores and A Better Way Pet Care are currently not doing weekend adoptions because of the coronavirus we are scheduling meetings offsite. Please call Sandy 661-824-4495 (land-line phone) to arrange a meeting with the dog that interests you.

We are in need of volunteers to help out at our pet adoptions at Petco on Saturdays and Sundays or at A Better Way Pet Care on Saturdays. If interested, please visit us during our adoption hours or call Suzanne at 661-824-4393.

More about this rescue

Halfway To Home was formed in 2001 due to the need in the Antelope Valley to rescue the many homeless, helpless pets. We have animals from individuals who have to give up pets, and from animal shelters that have darling individuals who need to be spared euthanasia. There are puppies coming from individuals who did not spay and neuter in a timely manner. Your tax deductible donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 512 Rosamond, CA 93560 or you can visit us on our web site at www.halfwaytohome.net and make a donation through PayPal.
