My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOXY is an 11-year-old spayed female white/tan Jack Russell Terrier. Foxy weighs 22 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 8 and up.

DESCRIPTION Rocky and Foxy are an adorable pair of affectionate pups who love belly rubs and ear massages and will gladly reciprocate with kisses. Rocky is a handsome guy with a frosted face and Foxy is a pretty peanut butter and vanilla swirl. Foxy is the more dominant of the two and Rocky is happy to follow her lead. Since they lost their owner, Rocky and Foxy have been spending most of their time alone in the backyard. Both dogs are a little nervous about thunderstorms and loud noises and would do best in a quiet home where they can learn to enjoy the simple pleasures like napping in a dog bed and sunbathing in the yard. They are good with other dogs, no cat history, but they didn't mind the ones they met at the vet's, so they may be good with cats. From foster: They were excellent in the car -- so much so that the seat towel was undisturbed 45 minutes later when we arrived home. Whenever Foxy looks at Foster Mom, she does the prettiest smile. Rocky is more camera shy. After stopping at the empty dog park to sniff and take care of business, Foxy quickly settled on a dog bed at home while it took Rocky a few minutes of pacing and looking out the window before he settled behind FM's desk chair. If you pet one, the other is always nearby to get his/her share of attention, but neither is pushy about it. They are now relaxing side by side on a dog bed. They were an owner surrender because the owner died and no one else could take them.

Update: These romantic pups with an appreciation for flowers, music, and treats are looking for someone with room for two easygoing bonded pups who are happy to do anything you might want to do. These two ask for nothing, play well with others at the dogs park, look forward to their walks (though Foxy requests a slower pace for her short legs), and love car rides. Both quickly bond to their people and might bestow a few soft kisses while they soak up attention. Their hobbies include: Napping, going for walks, getting attention from humans, riding in the car, receiving snacks, meeting other dogs, and more napping.

Update: Foxy and Rocky continued their Summer of Fun by checking out the sandbox toys. They don't know it yet, but they also get to demonstrate their excellent manners today during a trip to the bank where they are always greeted warmly by the front desk staff, tellers, and customers. These two love to be part of the action and enjoy observing activity happening around them. At home, Foxy is quite comfortable being on her own and doesn't feel the need to follow FM up and down stairs like Rocky does. They enjoy outings as well as naps, so they would likely be wonderful companions to just about anyone. Don't overlook this easygoing pair!

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Setting: Rural, suburban
Dwelling: Single family
Fence: No fence required

Rocky and Foxy are from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single-family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.
