She was owned by a disabled Vietnam Vet, who could not take care of her. When he'd be hospitalized, his "buds" would lock her in the bathroom and MIGHT let her out and MIGHT feed her. I fostered her and when he admitted he couldn't care for her, I was already in love with this intelligent, cuddly and affectionate dog.
She's extremely smart (learned to walk on a leash in 15 minutes). She thinks she's a lap dog. She sleeps curled up to my husband or me. When I've been upset, she knew it and covered me with kisses until I felt better. She barked aggressively at anyone new and at other dogs. I've worked with her so she doesn't bark at the neighbors and guests anymore...well, not much!
I want to keep her, but she's too energetic for me. When she gets wound up, she attacks our other dogs. Because I'm 74, I can no longer keep up with her. She does have PTSD from her time with the vet and needs a calm & loving environment. She needs a fenced yard and/or lots of walks.
