My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beautiful Rue! He is the largest of the group of 7 puppies we rescued from a high kill shelter in VA. This litter of pups have been through a rough time being left to fend for themselves, and ending up on death row in a high kill shelter. But they are safe now, and are healthy and happy babies. Each of these babies weighs between 8-12lbs. They appear to be Plott Hound Mixes. Their mother was a plott hound, the father was a white long haired terrier. So it's anyone one's guess, other than they are mutts :-) They are cute, sweet, and very smart. They will likely be very energetic as they grow older and will need homes where they'll get plenty of daily exercise and obedience training.

Each of these dogs have been vetted and assessed, and are in foster homes. These dogs will not be placed on first come, first serve, adoption process.  Each dog will be matched with an approved home that suits the dog's personality and needs.  Also, we will only be placing these dogs in the MD, DC, VA, and some parts of PA. Since they are puppies, they cannot be left alone all day long, or left in a crate all day either. They will need at least one guardian who can let them out for multiple potty breaks. Someone who works at home would be ideal.

Puppies take a lot of time, energy, and money to become the best little grown up dogs that they can be. In return they will make you smile and amuse you with their silly antics, then curl up on your lap and happily snooze while snuggling.

These babies are not old enough to have had all of their vaccines. They have had their first two distemper vaccines, deworming, microchip, and exams.  It will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccine is given at the appropriate time, along with any other vetting as they get older.  Please also keep in mind that until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at a greater risk for illness than an adult dog.

Due to their young age, they have not yet been spayed or neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done at 6 months of age. This will be part of our follow up program to ensure this is done. It is not negotiable. Spay/Neuter is mandatory.

Their adoption fee is $350

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster home for a dog in need! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering on our website:

MMR covers the vet care, food, and tools to get started. You supply the love. Fostering saves lives. Sometimes a foster home is the only thing standing between life and death.
