Cane is a one-year-old blue Doberman with natural ears, a natural tail, and a soft thick coat. Although Cane is cautious with new folks, once he gets to know you he wants to be close to you and loves to be petted. Cane is house trained and has followed his foster sister’s example and barks to let you know he needs to go out to take care of business. Although not crate trained (he is leery of the confines of a crate) Cane is gate trained and will not jump the baby gate to go to restricted areas.
Cane has not had much experience with people and is a bit ruff around the edges. He spent more than half of his young life outside. Cane is working on his manners because he likes to jump up on people he knows to greet them. Cane needs a Dobe savvy family to work with him on basic commands, walking on a leash, redirecting his energy, keeping him busy in appropriate pursuits while showering him with praise and attention
Because of Cane’s high energy he should only be in a family with children who are at least 12-years-old. Cane will do best in a family that can provide him with a fenced yard and has lots of time to play with him. Cane gets along well with other dogs and is used to having a large four-legged brother or sister to play with.
