My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ethel is a Toy Yorkie (4.6 lbs) and Lucy is a Toy Chihuahua (3.4 lbs). Both dogs are seniors (maybe 12 years?). They were found as strays on the streets of Oakland CA and brought to the Oakland Animal Shelter. Both dogs were microchipped, but phone and email information was out of date, so the shelter sent a letter. After 10 days (the last day of their stray hold, a family came forward to claim them. Both dogs had some significant medical needs. When animal control inquired about prior vet care and getting their current vet needs met, the original owners indicated that vet expenses weren't a priority. So they were asked to voluntarily surrender the dogs or they would be confiscated. They were surrendered and handed over to Nobody's Perfekt Dogs for rescue.

Both dogs are very sweet; they love to be held and cuddled. They have been together for most of their lives and are very bonded. They get along with other dogs, but Ethel is prone to lap guarding with some other dogs.

Neither dog is spayed and we have no plans to get them spayed. Given their ages and tiny size. Nobody's Perfekt Dogs in consultation with our vet, feel anesthesia is too risky. However, Ethel desperately needs dental surgery, so we are having that done. They have some ongoing health issues that will need to be addressed for the remainder of their lives. Lucy has a bum eye, that will require drops for uveitis, and a slight heart murmur not requiring medication at this time. Ethel has a collapsed trachea requiring a prescription cough suppressant (Hydrocodone). She is also prone to respiratory infections.

We need to find them a forever home that can give them lots of love and attention for the rest of their lives. Nobody's Perfekt Dogs is willing to help with veterinary costs.
