My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! My name is Emma, and I'm a calm, loyal, and affectionate 'tabico' (tabby-calico) DSH gal with big green eyes who was born in September 2009. I'm a typical calico with a very loving heart (who's a lap cat when I choose to be one) and an independent spirit. I'm very affectionate in the morning and love to cuddle under the blanket and sleep between my human's legs. Then once the day gets going, although I want to appear independent, I always prefer to be in the same room as my human. I'm bright too -- I can easily get treats out of a challenge treat dispenser. Although I take a while to warm up, once I feel comfortable with you in my surroundings, it will be as if I'd has known you forever -- I'm yours!
I'm good with kids and dogs as long as we have the proper introductions and I've acclimated to my surroundings. I'm curious and comfortable around dogs, but if I feel threatened, I don't hesitate to swat at the pooch, just to keep him on his toes and let him know who's boss. Unfortunately, I'm not good with other cats.
I've been fully vetted all my life because my long-term human used to be the receptionist at a feline-only vet practice. That cat clinic has deemed me a very healthy girl with no foreseen health problems.
I guess you're wondering why a fabulous gal like me is needing a new home. Well, my loving long-time humans had to move to Africa in winter of 2018 and couldn't take me with them, so they left me with a friend who agreed to foster me until they returned stateside in a few years. Then 6 months later, that foster parent had a change in living situation and couldn't foster me any more. So I'm back to needing an adopter or another long-term foster mom or dad.
If you're looking for a sweet, calm, loving kitty to keep you company, then I'm your gal. Why don't you arrange to meet me today?
NOTE: Emma is posted as a courtesy to an independent owner in hopes that networking through Buster's Friends' website postings will find a wonderful lifetime home for her. Buster's Friends is committed to reducing the number of animals who are surrendered to shelters and to assuring that fewer animals face the possibility of euthanasia. Courtesy postings for the community is one way that we can achieve this by providing a platform in which animals like Emma remain safe while still being widely seen until she is placed in a permanent home.
DISCLAIMER: Emma has never been in the care of Buster's Friends. We can therefore not evaluate her behavior or medical status and not be liable for any damages or injury which she may cause. However, her caregivers will supply all of her vet records. If Emma needs to be returned, she will go back to the home of her independent owner.
Emma is updated on shots, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, FIV/ FeLV negative, and ready for her indoor-only home. No de-clawing permitted. Her adoption fee is $75, cash or check payable to Buster's Friends. Please click the contact button if you are interested in Emma, and we can let you know exactly where you can meet her.
