My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Oscar! He is an adorable 10 pound, 7 year young, Poodle mix. He was adopted from Star-Mar 6 years ago to a young family that had a lot of time for him but things changed in the family and there was no more time for Oscar and he was an unhappy, left out little guy. We welcomed him back and he has been Mr. Manners in his foster home.

Oscar is fine with other dogs and really LOVES children. He likes to go for walks, loves riding in the car or the utility vehicle, likes to play chase with the other dogs, likes to hang at the barn, LOVES snuggling in bed and is always in search of an available lap. He is house trained and crate trained. He is good with cats that don't run. He would do well with people who like to travel; motor home, travel trailer and a home with respectful children over 10.

Oscar will need a family that knows how special he is and wants to include him in their activities. In typical Poodle style, Oscar does not like to be left out or ignored. He wants to be a part of what you're do. In his foster home Oscar is perfect - expect there are only visiting grandchildren and that simply doesn't seem to be enough for Oscar. He needs to live where someone is in and out during the day and where he can go with often. You don't have to have a barn but you do have to want to include Oscar in much of what you're doing. Not that he can't be left behind, of course he can but he will not do well if he is left often or with a family that does not have time to include him. After all, he's cute as a button, well behaved, devoted... AND THIS TIME he will be adopted where there is a commitment to him for a lifetime of care.

Oscar's adoption requirements are a fenced yard or a fenced area big enough for him to play safely, that leads directly into the home. Oscar is not a candidate for an underground fence. He will need a person who does not work a typical 8 hour work day; someone who works from home and can have their dog in their work space, someone who is retired or works not more than a few hours a day, a few days a week. Would LOVE kids! He does not have to live with another dog but would be fine with one. Oscar sleeps in bed and that is a habit that is not easily broken so that has to be okay with his new owner. Oscar eats a freeze dried, no grain raw diet. Currently he is eating Primal freeze dried, no grain nuggets and Honest kitchen, no grain but would do fine on any freeze dried, frozen or dehydrated grain free, raw food.

Star-Mar Rescue is a natural care provider. We use no chemicals on our dogs, no commercial flea products (oral or topical), do blood titers instead of randomly vaccinating. Our yards are without fertilizer and weed killer and our homes are toxin free. We feel that dogs can be protected without being harmed by harsh chemicals and unnecessary vaccinations and do best on a species appropriate, no grain, raw diet. Frozen raw diets, freeze dried or dehydrated no grain, raw are easily gotten at many pet stores and on line for no more cost then a high quality dry food. This simple step will provide your dog the nutrition needed to keep them healthy and happy for many years unlike a lifetime of processed foods.

We are happy to talk with you about caring for your dogs in a way that helps to keep them disease free long into their senior years, through their teens and even into their 20's. We place our dogs into homes that are already practicing natural care or homes that are eager to learn. We are convinced that natural care adds years to our dog's lives. Join millions of dog owners who are learning to protect their dogs using healthy, immune building care methods that will keep your companion vital for many years. If you feel that your lifestyle and environment meet with Oscar's needs, please contact Martha at learymjri@aol.com or call 330-466-3667 or 330-262-0515 for an application or more information. Oscar's adoption will require an approved application and a home visit, with adoption completed at Oscar's foster home in Wooster, OH. Oscar's adoption fee is $275. We will work to place him within a 2 hour driving distance from his foster home so that we can conduct our own home visit bringing Oscar with us.
