My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

REDFORD

The Rescue Train is pleased to welcome aboard the hottest new pup in town, the Sundance Kid himself, Redford! This golden boy has movie star looks and a personality to match. He was rescued from a shelter close to the blazing “Holy Fire” where he was stuck in the medical ward finishing up treatment for a mild skin condition. Now that he is free and healthy, he’s having fun exploring life outside the shelter.

This hunky, 6-month-old spaniel/golden retriever mix is a great puppy, and as handsome and charming as his namesake. He is super cuddly and affectionate.

He's currently 18 pounds but we expect him to reach around 25-30 pounds when full grown. His puppy panache shines through whether he is playing with other dogs his size (maybe even his best friend Elsie!) or sharing his energy with his human companions.

A puppy training class would be a great idea to reinforce positive habits while he is eager and impressionable. Redford is 100% puppy. Everything - shoes, clothes, dish towels, dog bowls, dog beds, paper, pillows - is a potential toy. He simply loves toys, loves to play and loves people. He also loves to get Up Close and Personal with every dog he meets. He has quickly learned to walk on a leash, and loves to go for walks. This Jeremiah Johnson is super curious and wants to explore and check things out. But loud noises and unfamiliar things (leaf blowers, etc) scare him a little. Redford would not do well in an apartment due to the amount of activity he needs. He’s a dog that doesn’t tire easily even with long walks. He’s very playful and loves playing with the other young dog in his foster home to burn off steam.

He is making strides on housebreaking. He will be a great family dog (in home with children over the age of 10) and worthy of a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Mr. Redford is currently casting the role of “Furever Family” so if you think you have what it takes, reach out to The Rescue Train to audition (aka fill out an application😉)!
