“You have to want a baby” I told a friend of mine recently. Her sister-in-law was interested in adopting Willa. As it turned out, her husband didn’t want another dog. I thought that worked out well. Willa is not a dog (at least to my eyes).
She sleeps with me and she eats with me. She eats from a fork and amazingly understood how to eat from a spoon. I brush her teeth in the morning after I brush my own (different brush!).
Willa is piddle pad trained and doesn’t go outside to potty. She likes her privacy and her potty/bed enclosure is behind the couch at my house. She enjoys time outside on the deck. I don't have to worry about fleas and ticks.
Willa is not much of a lap dog. That said, as I write this she is lying on my legs. She likes to be held…for about a minute. She is quite independent.
I do not “want” to rehome Willa. I have gone through a divorce and a complete lifestyle change. I now have the opportunity to work and live in overseas.
