My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gizzy is a sweet little Yorkie who is 8.5 years old and weighs a little over 7 pounds, but should weigh 1 lb less to be a much healthier weight. Gizzy is being fostered in Zephyrhills, FL.

UPDATED BIO 08/17/2018: Gizzy has been in his foster home for 6 weeks now. He has let his Foster Mom know that he wants to be the only pet in the home. He can be sweet to his four-legged brothers and sisters one minute, but if they get into his space, he will snap at them. He displays this behavior only in the home since he really doesn’t want to share his people with other animals, both dogs and cats. However, Gizzy doesn't try to snap at dogs while he's outside on his walks. He has not snapped at any humans or children; in fact, if he sees a human outside he wants to run up to them and greet them.

Gizzy’s initial urinalysis showed crystals in his urine and he was put on a special RX diet. He recently had a re-check and no crystals were found – hooray. Gizzy will need to continue to eat only the prescribed RX food for the rest of his life – this food costs no more than a premium brand food would cost. Gizzy has had signs of seasonal allergies and the vet has suggested if he shows signs again of redness in his eyes and sneezing, he can take a quarter tablet of Benadryl 25mg 2x a day for relief.

Gizzy is doing really great with his house-training, but still hasn’t quite figured out how to tell his foster parents when he needs to go out, so they take him out often to avoid any accidents. He loves to sleep in bed with his humans and sit on the couch next to Foster Mom. Gizzy loves to ride in the car and go for walks but has a tendency to pull on the leash to eagerly greet dogs and people, so his foster parents are working with him on better leash manners. Please note: Gizzy must always be on a leash when outside since he will take off running if he seems something that may catch his attention

Foster Mom says that Gizzy is a sweetheart and such a good boy. Would your home be the perfect placement for this sweet boy?

PLEASE NOTE: Due to Gizzy’s small size, he can only be placed in a home with children 12 years old or older.
