My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

HERO NEEDS A HERO! He has been in kennel free boarding for too long because his foster was no longer foster and his original rescuer is no longer rescuing. A forever foster (but even better - an adopter) with large-breed experience is Hero's dream! We supply food, crate and other necessary items for our fosters & cover vetting at our vets.

Hero came to us from Riverside Shelter where he was on the euthanasia list for his age. They also noted he had trouble walking. We expected to pick up a weak old guy with hip issues, but instead we picked up a young-at-heart guy who thinks he’s still a young Buck! :) He has spent several months with our trainer who was amazed at his energy level. The only way you can tell his age - his beautiful grey mask and worn, rough pads on his backside. :( Other than that, he has no idea he’s a mature gentleman. We are not sure of his breed but Shepherd/Boxer/Pointer/Pitbull have all been guessed as possible mixes. He is a beautiful, shiny, dark-chocolate brindle.

He does best with submissive dogs. We don’t know how he is with cats. Because he is strong and can be a bit nervous in new situations, we recommend a home with no kids.

Can you give an old guy the home or forever-foster he so deserves?

More about this rescue

Cause for SB Paws is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization dedicated to helping lost, abandoned, abused and homeless dogs from the streets and our city and county shelters in the San Bernardino area. Our goal is to rehome our rescued babies into pet-loving communities that will cherish these formerly forgotten souls.

We are a dedicated team of San Bernardino residents who grew frustrated with the substandard treatment of animals in our community and shelters. We foster all of the dogs we rescue so they can de-stress from their time on the streets or in the shelter system and get them used to the love and trust of being an inside companion animal living in a loving home. We also fully vet our dogs and treat any known issues, including dental, hernia repair, etc.
