Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Addie is a 9 month old red heeler who needs an experienced adopter. She is extremely smart and active. Addie was left outside, alone for the first 5.5 months of her life, so she is learning how to be a dog. New situations often make her nervous and she'd do well with a calm, confident leader to aid her training and socialization.
Addie has mastered 'sit' and knows to only go potty outside the house. She is working on leash training as well as her social skills with other dogs. She is quite eager to please and loves fetch. Addie does well with positive reinforcement. We would love to see her go to a farm where she can be a working dog.
She will require a great deal of exercise and a job, as is typical to her breed. She would probably do best as an only dog in the home, unless her prospective family was committed to extensively socializing her so that she could be integrated into a group environment.
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our application here: http://www.rchsks.org/our-animals/adopt-a-pet/adopting-a-dog. By filling out the application you are not committing yourself to adopting; it's a screening process that must be completed before you meet the dog. Please do this BEFORE calling. Our voicemail is only checked periodically and you can reach us much faster via dog-coordinators@rchsks.org. Thank you!
