My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Owen is a very social fella and likes the attention from the volunteers. He likes to take walks and explore the play yard. He walks fairly easy on the leash but tends to be jumpy, especially when being ignored. Basic obedience classes would be a benefit and great for bonding to his new human. He listens well and is very smart so training should be easy. He is a "working" breed and needs daily activity to keep him happy. Dogs like Owen don't do well in apartments or tied up for long periods of time. Too much time alone without a job can make Heelers act out and become destructive. Owen is food possessive and should be fed away from other dogs. It would be a good idea to introduce him to other dogs in the household before adoption to be sure they are a match. He ignores the cats in their cages but he is a herding dog and caution should be used until he proves to be cat friendly. He does have a double coat and will need brushed occasionally to remove any dead hair. Owen has lots of potential and is ready to find a family. He is between 2 and 3 years old, vaccinated and neutered.
