My story

Odie came to ARFF MO as a stray at 6 months of age. He is now 5 years old.  Odie knows how to sit and down on command, catch treats, and shake hands with you. Odie was never socialized with other dogs (likely weaned from his mama at 4 weeks of age) and he needs help with initial introductions by his handler. ARFF MO has worrked wth a trainer on teaching Odie to be calm around other dogs and he has made great strides. Odie has never been aggressive, rather he prefers to wrap his legs around a dog's neck and lick them in the face, which most dogs do not appreciate. He is a very high energy boy and some dogs are put off by his energy level. He would do best with someone experienced with working with strong dogs. He is a quick learner and is very "treat motivated". Odie would probably be best as the only dog unless someone wants to take the time to work with him and their other dog. Odie is  predatory with cats so he would need a home without them. He is also much too energetic to live with a small dog. Small children are out due to his energy level. Odie is crate trained and house trained. He loves to play with toys.Odie requires his adopter to own their own home and to have a very secure, fenced yard. Odie is a sweetheart of a dog that likes to snuggle. Odie had a torn ACL injury 3 years ago that has healed but he is on medication daily for arthritis from the injury. He does not let it slow him down and he is as active as ever.  If you think you'd be a good home for Odie please complete an adoption application on our website (  Adoption Fee: $150.00 and a home visit is required before final approval. Odie needs to relocate close to the Columbia or Fayette area. Odie has lived with the founder of ARFF MO since he came into our rescue. and you will need to convince me that you can give him as good of care as he is getting here to own him. You will not find a more beautiful pit bull!

More about this rescue

ARFF MO's mission is to promote public safety through education about responsible pet care as an alternative to banning breeds of dogs. We focus on education, legislation, and rescue to accomplish our goals. We rescue Pit Bull type dogs that are on "death row" due to breed specific legislation from the Fayette Dog Pound., We try to help other local dogs affected by BSL when possible. ARFF MO was created after the Fayette City Council passed a Pit Bull ban in Feb. 2009. We post pictures of our re-homed "death row dogs" on our website to educate the public about the true nature of these unfairly targeted for eradication pets.
