My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Haku was adopted approximately one month ago by a family who had so much to offer him. Very sadly, the family recently experienced a very serious and unexpected situation that makes it impossible for them to continue caring for him. So, we are now looking for a new family to help Haku get over another loss. But, he is young and we know he will do well with new people who love him and who offer him a life full of fun and adventure.
This striking 11 month old purebred Siberian Husky is Haku.  His wolf-like appearance gives him an imposing look, but he is a big softie with a very warm and loving heart.  Haku is easy-going and mellow, affectionate and obedient and often looks like he is smiling! .  His friendliness to people and love of other dogs makes him an ideal family pet and companion.Haku came from a breeder and was adopted at approximately 14 weeks of age. For the last 9 months he has lived happily with his human.  But, as he has gotten older and bigger (60 lbs),  his human has recognized that living in an apartment and being alone all day, waiting for the human to come home from a very demanding job, is not the right life for this dog.  To his credit, Hako has managed being alone but lately he is showing the signs of his stressful situation.  He was born with a need to be active and to be part of a pack.  He is a very social dog and suffers when he is alone too long.  Haku and his human share a very deep bond but their current lifestyle is beginning to negatively affect them both.  His human has struggled with this decision and realizes sadly, that living apart is the right choice for Haku and that another family will be better able to give Haku the life he was meant to live.  Huskies have an innate love of the outdoors.  They are athletic and nomadic by nature and are keen to be moving and seeing new things.  Haku, a true Husky loves to run, walk, hike and swim making him a perfect choice for active, outdoorsy families.  With his love of other dogs, he is an admirer of dog parks too and feels like he’s died and gone to heaven when given the chance to run and romp and wrestle with other pups.  He would love to share his new home with another friendly, playful canine.  He hasn’t met a cat yet!Although Haku loves being outside (especially in the snow) he is not an outside dog.   He loves sharing time and affection with his people and living outside alone would lead this highly intelligent pup to look for creative ways to keep himself entertained.  Huskies can be escape artists so finding a way out of the yard  might become his favourite activity!   And he is not a reliable watchdog - due to his love of people and very friendly attitude toward strangers it isn’t the job for him.  He sees strangers as friends he hasn’t met yet so he is more than happy to welcome them into his home!  Haku has a lot of enthusiasm and energy for outside activities  but he is very mellow and gentle-mannered in the house. He’s content to sit and chill while his people work or watch TV.  As a bonus, he is fastidiously clean and free from body odours.  He sheds though, so regular brushing is required! It is hard to resist Haku’s joyful and friendly demeanor and his striking good looks. He will provide many years of companionship, joy and entertainment to his new family.  They will need to be consistent and patient  to continue his training and to help him adjust to his new life.  He’ll want to be a valued member of the family and he’ll repay the love by showering lavish affection on every human in his pack.He is vaccinated, in good health and he will be neutered before he goes to his new home. He has very interesting eyes - one of the them is multi-coloured. He is also missing a bit of one ear (a run in with a littler mate)! He is housetrained and crate trained.   He knows basic commands and surprisingly for a Husky he has good recall! If you are dog savvy, and have time and energy Haku might be the dog for you.  His beautiful expressive eyes and loving nature can’t help but melt your heart.  Adoption fee - $550
