My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Apollo!

I was rescued in August 2017 from Maricopa County West shelter in Phoenix AZ, due to the fact that I was continually being attacked by other dogs. I went to my new home to be fostered, but ended up growing to love my 3 Chihuahua siblings and my new mommy couldn't bear to separate us. My favorite things are to kiss you and cuddle you. I think that I am a lap dog and just love to be pet.

Since being rescued I have completely come out of my shell and in true Pitbull fashion I have mounds of energy. I enjoy running around the yard and being outside. I however do not have very much special awareness and often run over my little siblings and now also my 14-month old human niece. I have also gotten in a few scuffles at the dog parks. These 2 dogs have been males larger then me who have tried to dominate me. I have met with a trainer recently who has informed my owner that he thinks I am totally trainable. I love all small dogs and female dogs. My owner works long hours and is sad that she does not have as much time as she thinks I deserve to be worked with and to be exercised, so now I am looking for my furever home, where I can get plenty of exercise and the training necessary to help me develop into someone's best-est buddy!

Apollo's adoption fee is $100 and is available in So. Milwaukee, WI.

What is a "Courtesy Cupid"?

Courtesy Cupids are beloved pets that need to be re-homed because of varied circumstances. They are living with their current families, and are not part of the Canine Cupid foster system. Due to the third party nature of these courtesy postings, Canine Cupids makes no guarantee, and claims no knowledge as to the accuracy of the information provided regarding the pet and cannot be held liable for any misrepresentation or misunderstanding between the current owner and the applicant.

Applicants must fill out an online application in order to be placed in contact with the surrendering family. Canine Cupids will only be responsible for processing the application and screening any provided references as a courtesy to the family surrendering the pet. It will then be up to the current owner and applicant to then communicate, in as much detail as requested, the animals age, health, behavior, background, schedules, eating habits, sleeping habits, play styles or anything else that may assist in making a good match between the surrendered pet and the applicant. Because all our Courtesy Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

About Canine Cupids
Canine Cupids is a rescue in Milwaukee that is comprised of volunteers who have been fostering for various organizations and volunteering at our local animal control. Canine Cupids focuses on Milwaukee’s homeless dogs, but will always help a dog in need when we can — regardless of location.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
