We bought our German Shepherd dog at Shiraz Farms in Middleburg, Virginia in June 2015. Our dog, Darcy, is three years old. The place where we bought our dog specializes in service dogs, and we hoped to get one for our special needs daughter. Darcy was trained by two trainers who focused on obedience and socialization. She is a sweet dog, knows basic obedience, and is potty and crate trained. She loves to play with her toys and especially loves it when the children throw her a stick or a ball. For a dog to be a service dog they must be extremely obedient and very mellow; unfortunately, Darcy is high energy, sometimes likes to jump up on people, and has growled a few times so sadly I think she is unable to be a service dog. She has never bit anyone and her trainers say she is not an aggressive dog. We are very sad about this decision, and would like to find her a good home.
