Bode is a 3 year old male Maltese who came into rescue from a puppy mill. He is learning a lot about the world and is mastering more each day. Bode loves to be outside and going for long walks. He’s learning how to walk on a leash and loves practicing. While he still doesn’t like to be picked up, he does sit on the couch at times and will sometimes rest his chin on his foster parents’ laps.
Some of the new things Bode is learning is playing with toys, cuddling and interacting with people, taking treats out of people’s hands, going up and down small stairs, and sleeping through the night. Right now, Bode is especially working on potty training and not being scared when left alone in a room. And he loves eating good dog food, although he isn’t picky at all!
Bode is looking for a family who has experience training shy dogs and is willing to continue working on his potty training, separation anxiety, and socialization. He needs to find a home with another well-trained small dog with whom he can interact and learn from. Because he loves being outside and is still learning how to be on a leash, he needs to find a home with a fenced-in yard.
Bode is neutered, has had a dental, is up-to-date on his vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventative and is microchipped. He is in very good health, although he has a slight heart murmur. But as long as he stays a healthy weight and gets good exercise, that shouldn’t cause any life long problems. His adoption fee is $370.00 plus $27.84 sales tax for a total fee of $397.84. His foster parents would like his adopters to live within 30 miles of Minneapolis and encourage them to attend the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion in held in September each year.
