My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET Hope -

Hope is 3.5 years old, 9.5 lbs, black & tan short hair doxie. She is a bit shy, but in the right loving forever home she will surely come out of her shell. Hope needs a quiet stable stay at home owner who can give her lots of TLC, patience, and love. She seems hesitant when trying to put on a leash and when going into the car. She feels safe in her crate, and enjoys going outside in the backyard, but would not suggest taking her for walks until she gets more comfortable in new home and on a leash. She needs to be taken outside to go potty every 2-3 hours until she gets better at potty training. Hope is very sweet, quiet & polite, and is a total lap dog. She loves to be held and cuddle with you on the couch. She needs someone to show her true love and kindness, with time she will learn to be confident and trust again. Hope has so much potential, she's just waiting for the right forever home to call her very own!

Hope will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.

Like all Dachshunds, Hope is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, Hope needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give Hope a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
