My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello Sweet Buttons! Buttons is a very sweet, very tiny, 16-week old micro chihuahua. His mother was 2.5 pounds and his father was smaller. Buttons and his brother were rescued when their mama could not nurse them. We were happy to bring them into foster where they received round the clock feedings for weeks.

Buttons is a spunky little guy with a great personality. He takes a few minutes to warm up but loves to play. Buttons does well with other well-behaved smaller dogs and seems to enjoy canine company. Buttons will need a home that is very understanding of his small size. Dogs that are bred this small often cannot do stairs, jump out of a car, jump off furniture, etc., without breaking the small bones in their feet and legs. Buttons will need to be an indoor only dog as he will look like prey to owls and hawks.
He's already working on and is mostly pad trained. He will need a temperature controlled home and most likely need a winter wardrobe. Also these micro pets require regular vet care, especially for their teeth. Buttons is perfectly healthy but he will need to go to a home that is prepared for the vet expenses that come with owning such a tiny dog.

Buttons' adoption fee is $500 and is non-negotiable. Home check and vet reference are required. Prior experience with a micro dog is preferred but not required. Due to his size, Buttons would do better in a home without small children or cats and a home where someone is home most of the day is preferred. Are we being picky? Yes! We want Buttons to find just the right home, especially after such a rough start.

Buttons belongs to The Underdog Railroad rescue, a 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue that pulls dogs and cats from high kill shelters in Central California and transports them to rescue partners in the Pacific Northwest. 100% of Buttons adoption fee goes directly to the rescue. Buttons will be NEUTERED prior to adoption.

This is a courtesy post. If you are interested in Buttons, please email ladyprivateeye@sbcglobal.net directly. Thank you!
