Meet SHELBY!!
Shelby is a 1 year old, 6 pound, spayed female mix breed. A maltese/chihuahua blend is our guess.
Shelby roamed a neighborhood for a few weeks and survived on handouts from different residents. Although street savvy, she was at risk of being hit by a car, or injured by a larger animal. A resident reached out for help and we gladly picked her up. Efforts to locate the owner proved futile.
Shelby will likely start off scared and timid, but relaxes once she knows she is safe, and you are kind. She does fine with other dogs, but seems to be a "loner" and prefers her people instead. She has shown mild interest in cats but has not attempted to hurt them. She will require some grooming upkeep. She is good in a crate, and does well in potty training when kept on a regular schedule.
Shelby is up to date on vaccinations, bordatella, current on flea and heartworm preventive, and is micro-chipped. She comes with a health certificate to travel.
Shelby's preferred home has a secure fenced in yard she can play in supervised (no electric or wireless please), a low activity environment with a patient person who will let her settle in, and no children please.
Shelby is currently in a foster home in San Antonio TX and can be transported to your area once adopted. All adopters must meet requirements.
Shelby is available thru Lytle Animal Allies, a 501c3 non-profit. The adoption fee is $185, and ground transport fee to the East coast via Rescue Road Trips is $185. Ground transport runs every 2 weeks and fills up fast.
