My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lanie! Lanie is an eight month old 38 pound Greyhound German Shepherd mix that RED stepped in to save from a high kill shelter. She is a smart, energetic, happy girl. She is a good listener and wants to please. She gets along very well with her 11 year old poodle foster brother and is respectful of his space. Lanie is an active girl who would be the perfect running, hiking, walking partner. She is a smart girl who would love someone to give her a job, she loves to “hunt” for rabbits in her foster home, and may be a good candidate for lure coursing or nose work. She is a little afraid of big dogs coming toward her on walks and will need confidence building in that area. Lanie is learning how to crate in her foster home, currently he will bark in her kennel if left at home alone but is making progress. Lanie is also working on potty training, we suspect may not have lived in a house prior to coming to RED, but she is smart and picking up the concept of going potty outside very quickly, she is using a dog door in her current foster home and if given the opportunity she will potty outside. Currently Lanie is fed in her kennel, she is underweight and we suspect may have been a street dog, so structured, established feeding times and rules will help her be successful in her new home. Lanie is a silly fun puppy with a lot of energy and love to give, she really enjoys couch time with her people and will thrive in a home where she can have structure, continued training, and love.
