My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET CHARLIE! He is an adorable 6-1/2 year old 13.7 lb yorkie mix. He is being fostered in Freeport, FL.

UPDATED BIO 10/20/2018: Charlie arrived in his foster home a couple of weeks ago. His surrendering owner loved and cared for him a lot, but due to a change in the owner's life circumstances, they felt it would be better for Charlie to be in a home where he could receive more attention and love.

Charlie has settled into his foster home and fits in nicely as one of a pack of five dogs. He loves his friend Sandy who is a male Jack Russell Terrier, and they play constantly. Charlie is a real lover and a joy to be around and goes wherever his person goes. He doesn’t like being alone but will stay in his crate if you are gone on a short trip to the grocery store. Charlie comes with a crate, dog bed and a leash as he loves to walk and he loves car rides! He even comes with a dog stroller if you want to make a stop at Lowes or Home Depot. If small children approach him he will bark and growl so no kids under 10, please. Charlie lived with a cat at his former home and he is okay with cats.

Charlie wants to sleep next to you in bed so you need to be aware that he will whine if he isn’t there with you. Charlie is a typical yorkie in that he can be stubborn at times. Charlie gets what Charlie wants and his foster parents are okay with that as he is a great dog and they always indulge their pets. He doesn’t like you to wipe his eyes so he will need more frequent bathing. Charlie’s former owner stated he had allergies and needs a Cytopoint shot every other month so you will need to be able to provide the financial resources in the amount of $50-$60 per shot that last from 4-8 weeks.

Charlie will do best in a home with retirees or perhaps someone who works from home, and no small children. Charlie has already lost 1 lb since arriving at his foster home, and his foster mom is working on getting even more exercise time and healthy eating. Charlie is completely house-trained and has lots of years ahead of him. Charlie is looking for a forever home so that he never ever has to be re-homed again, so you must be able to commit to him as he deserves only good things from now on.

PLEASE NOTE: Charlie cannot be placed in a home with children under the age of 10 years old.
