My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Poppy, female Dachshund/Chihuahua mix, 3-4 years old. Poppy is so sweet and has the cutest short legs and big ears. She is dog/cat friendly. Poppy is very passive and submissive. She does better with calm and submissive dogs and can gets scared and hide from more hyper and assertive dogs. She was rescued from an animal shelter, and was sick with parvo. Poppy was treated for and survived parvo, but was also positive for heartworms! So, once again this little fighter survived, and received treatment for heartworms. Poppy is a shy, timid girl. It will take her time to adjust to a new home. She will need a patient, kind, sensitive adopter whom will give her time to blossom from her shyness. She needs a safe place in her new home, where she can retreat to and begin her adjustment period. Poppy will need a person to share kind words, treats, petting and lap snuggles to show her she is safe. Poppy will blossom into a sweet, fun little girl (She presented as shy when she first came into her foster home and has blossomed into a friendly social girl, but in new environments she becomes shy again until she realizes that she is safe). She plays with toys, her foster siblings and loves to go outside and lay in the sun. If you have the time and patient to let Poppy in your heart, she will be there forever, sweet and thankful. Poppy is vaccinated, spayed and microchipped.
