My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Churro and I have a head tilt to melt hearts. I was recently surrendered to Canines & Company when my owner felt I needed more activity and attention than the family was able to provide. They said I am a purebred German Shepherd and by my good looks and demeanor, it is seemingly so. My previous family indicated that I lived with children and another small dog, and I recently turned a year old at the beginning of October.

I lived the majority of my life as an outside dog in a suburb of Chicago, so my socialization skills weren't superb when I first arrived to rescue. I was eager to make friends, I just didn't know how, and was a bit on the nervous side. Lucky for me, I am SUPER smart, and I am highly motivated to please the handlers I bond with. Training proved to be a breeze and I am now quite a pro at walking on leash, "sit," "down," and I'm working on "stay" with a "place" command. I have completed two weeks of professional training with Found Chicago Boarding and Training Center, where they have socialized me with dogs and people alike. My adopters will go home with plenty of training videos to assist in my transition home and a free six week group course, which is optional but suggested.

I have grown leaps and bounds in the short time my C&C friends have known me and I am eager to continue to grown and learn in an adoptive home. I would do best with an active family who is familiar with the German Shepherd breed or a working breed along those lines. I would make an excellent hiking or running companion and thoroughly enjoy a good game of "fetch." If you are interested in meeting me, please email brittney@caninesandcompany.org or fill out an application.
