My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name?
Dora, also known as Dora the Explorer because I came all the way here from Connecticut

How old are you?
About 4 months old

How much do you weigh?
A whopping 12lbs, but I’m still growing! Even full grown though, I’m going to be TINY.

What do you look like?
I look like a tri-colored English bulldog full of beautiful wrinkles with a slight underbite.

What do you like to eat?
I’ll eat anything without complaint. As of right now though, I eat a mixture of Taste of the Wild and Natural Balance

What kind of personality do you have?
Obviously the BEST kind of personality. I’m always happy and always ready to play, but if you want a snuggle partner I’m down for that too!

Describe your perfect day:
My perfect day starts with a family adventure somewhere! Like the park or beach. Where I’ll probably get tired and need to be carried back to the car. Then we’ll get home and snuggle on the sofa watching Netflix.

What is your favorite toy?
My sister’s ears! I love to pull her around by them. Hehe. But really, my Kong toys! I’m still a teething puppy and they feel great on my gums.

Do you know any tricks?
I got “sit” down! My foster mom is trying to teach me to shake, buttt it’s a work in progress.

What scares you?
Nothing! I’m fearless... ok no I’m not, I’m terrified of the vacuum. But that’s it, I swear!

Have you been around children? Do you like them?
Omg, children? I LOVE them. They are my favorite. They are always down to play chase but then they are also some of the best snuggle buddies I know.

Do you like cats?
Cats are interesting creatures. My foster mom has feral cats she feeds, and I like to hang out with them, but they don’t really like me.

How do you feel about other dogs?
I LOVE dogs. In fact, I’d probably do best in a home with a brother or sister. My foster my says, if I’m not playing with my foster siblings then I’m sleeping on them.

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?
On my human’s lap or on my fur siblings head.

How is your health?
You caught me, I’ve got one ‘flaw’ although my foster mom says I’m perfect just the way I am. I have Spina Bifida. It means I have no control over my bladder or bowels. There is no known surgery yet to fix Spina Bifida. This means I will be a diaper dog for life. I get my diaper changed every four hours or so, unless I’m allowed to be diaper free, in which case I’m good for a while. My foster mom says she’s willing to help teach anyone how to take care of my needs, so it’s really nothing to be scared of. In fact, my foster mom has two of her own diaper pups and says it’s really no big deal at all.

Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion?
Oh man, my foster mom and dad have a lot of special needs dogs of their own. So I have a big family to play with and snuggle with at all times. That being said, my BFF is Lolli. She’s another diaper dog and I really, REALLY, like her. In fact I chose to snuggle her the other night over my foster mom. Foster mom thought that was funny.

Where do you hang out when you are home alone?
I have a crate I sleep in while the humans are away.

Where do you sleep?
I sleep on the bed!

Do you like walking on a leash?
Only if I have another dog to walk with, otherwise I get nervous. Foster mom is helping me learn though.

Do you have any "not-so-great" habits that we should know about? For instance, do you bark or dig in the yard?
I am a puppy still, so I’m a bit chewy!

Are you house trained? (Meaning do you go potty outside)
No, because I have Spina Bifida.

Do you like playing in water?
I LOVE water! We have a lake near by my foster mom’s house and we go there a lot. I love to swim, but you gotta keep a close eye on me since I am an English Bulldog and we are known for sinking.

What do you love about your foster family?
I love my foster family because they accept me for who I am; flaws and all.

What was your life like before being joining NBBR?
I can’t remember much because I was a lil pup when NBBR first got me, but it wasn’t terrible.

NorCal Bully Breed Rescue is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread all throughout the Sacramento area. We usually require our adopters to be within a 50 to 100 mile radius of us, depending on the dog, and depending on the home. This is because we need to do a yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed. We are, however, willing to adopt out of our area, including the Bay Area, Tahoe, and even further. We've even adopted out of state on very special occasions. We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog. Our adoption fees are based on the dog and range from $200-$350. In the case of senior dogs (6+ years), fees will be waived to the right home. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary).

Interested in meeting Dora or any of our available pooches? Complete and submit our adoption application on our website norcalbullybreedrescue.com and we will respond to you within 24 to 48 hours.
