Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Buddy is a wonderful 2 year old Shihpoo boy who has not had an easy life so far. His first owner was a cruel man who would beat Buddy when he was angry. Thankfully, a wonderful woman rescued Buddy from this abusive home and placed him with a young family. The family loved Buddy but didn't have time for him. Additionally, their young children didn't understand that they shouldn't pull his tail and ears because it hurt him. While he never bit the children, he would snap at them when they hurt him ( can't say that I blame him, I wouldn't be too fond of someone hurting me either). So the family decided that he deserved a better home and surrendered him to rescue.
Buddy is very shy when you first meet him but warms up quickly to women. It takes a bit longer with men and children because of his past, but with patience and kindness, he definitely comes around. Buddy walks pretty well on a leash, but could use some more practice to perfect his skills. Buddy is housetrained when taken out on a regular schedule.
Buddy give the best hugs and only wants to be loved by his family. Given his history, Buddy needs to be in a quiet home where he can catch up on all the love and attention he missed out on his first two years. Older children would be OK, but they will need to be able to understand that they need to given him time and not rush up to him or grab at him. No young children ( <14 years). A completed application, home visit and adoption contract are required to adopt Buddy. Buddy is current on all vaccinations, heartworm preventative and he is neutered.
