Samma and Jasper are bonded buddies who very sadly are looking for a new home. They are rescued dogs who now need to be rescued again - just as they are learning to trust people! Their lives have been very hard but fortunately for the last few years, they have lived with a family who loves them.
The owners rescued these two pups and love them dearly but they find themselves in a very serious situation. Their landlord recently passed away and his family immediately issued an eviction notice with the intention of selling the house. The owners have searched for a home to accommodate their family - including their pets. As they have been unable to find anything affordable, their situation has become desperate. Looking for a new home for the dogs is a sacrifice they must make in order to put a roof over their heads - before they all become homeless.
Samma is a 7-1/2 yr old mixed breed (Maltese/Jack Russell?) who was originally rescued from Mexico. She was found on the street with her 7 puppies. When rescuers tried to help her, she bravely tried to protect her little ones. Sadly, only two of the puppies survived but Samma nurtured them until they were old enough to leave her. Although small in stature she is a spunky, brave little dog with a huge heart. She is affectionate and happy and loves connecting with people. She likes other dogs too but occasionally she meets one who makes her nervous.
Jasper is a Bahamian Pot Cake Dog. The Potcake Dog is a mixed breed found mainly in the Caribbean Islands. They usually look a little like a Lab mix with intelligent eyes and a desire to trust people. They are known for being sensitive dogs who make intense bonds with humans if they are given the opportunity. Once Jasper gets to know people he is a total lap dog who loves to cuddle. When given love he returns that love over and over.
Both of the dogs are in good health and have been vaccinated, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped. They are fully housetrained - Jasper alerts when he has to go outside and Samma just follows him out! They have medium energy levels and are happy going for a couple of walks a day or playing chase and fetch. Both are good at exploring on leash but sometimes pull a little if they are excited. They know some basic commands too - Jasper a few more than Samma! These two are good little watchdogs and will let their people know if someone is at the door or passing by the house. Their people don’t own a car so the dogs haven’t had any experience going for rides but with a little practice they might learn to love it though like most dogs do!
Jasper and Samma are looking for a quiet home with “adults only.” Jasper still has a bit of anxiety so calm and confident people will help him get more confident everyday. They will be content to sit and snuggle on the couch and share leisurely walks in the neighbourhood.
