Charlie may be older but don’t let his age fool you – he is quite the spunky little dude!
We know he is super cute with his little button nose and puppy-like looks but please read his full biography before applying as Charlie is not your typical small lap dog!
Charlie is looking for a special owner to call his own. He does have some issues with resource guarding and is not a fan of being picked up or manipulated – he prefers to make his own decisions about who to interact with and as long as you respect that, you and he will get along just fine! Charlie is a classic example of a dog with ‘little dog syndrome’ and he very much likes to boss people around. Charlie is NOT suited to a home with children due to his independent and bossy nature and his resource guarding.
When you get home Charlie will meet you with exuberant barks and whines from his crate. He loves his walks and takes in his whole environment very thoroughly with his nose. He walks best with his harness which is a must for a little guy who is a little too eager to cover ground. His recall isn’t the best as his hearing is selective but he knows to sit and flits around when he knows its supper time, sometimes bouncing off your leg with excitement. He requires a special diet (currently on fish and sweet potato- grain free) as he gets itchy on other foods.
He will need an owner with small dog experience who is willing to continue his positive reinforcement training to help him be the best dog that he can be. But once bonded, he will follow you around and enjoy every moment with you just happy for your companionship. Charlie will make a great best bud for a lucky someone who understands his history and takes his strong personality in stride.

House trained: Yes – I ask when I need to go out
Crate trained: Yes – I like my crate and will retire to its confines when I get tired or want to be alone for a nap (if I’m not curled up on you or the cushion next to you!)
Loose-leash trained: I’m currently using a harness as I pull quite a lot. I may need some work on this! I am not off leash trained.
Commands: I know ‘sit’ and ‘no’ (but I don’t like this one!) – my hearing isn’t that great due to my age
Dogs: I like to meet all dogs but I lack appropriate meeting manners and tend to be a little pushy – not all dogs like me!
