My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Cosmo. I just want you to know I am doing great and can’t wait for my forever home. I also want to tell you, I have come so far in the 6 months I have been a TDR foster pup. I have gained 3 pounds which may not seem like a lot but I was starved to skin and bones in my last home. I love love love to eat so I don’t know why they said I didn’t eat. Foster momma feeds me such good food and she always gives me treats which is my favorite thing to do. I will even jump up in your lap for a treat or a bit of what you’re eating. My favorite treat is cheese but I like other stuff too. I will even sit and give you my paw for a piece of cheese. If you feel brave I will even lick peanut butter off your finger. I will jump right down afterward but I really appreciate the treat. I prefer to have space and to sit on my own chair or couch but I won’t chase you away if you sit next to me. I might get a little nervous because my people before foster momma used to throw me off the couch. I don’t know why they did that either, but I am trying to get past all that. Please don’t let it hurt your feelings if I snub your attempts at affection. Also, I don’t mind if you pet me but touching me too much or too long makes me think you’re going to do something bad to me and I get nervous. I will let you know when I am getting uncomfortable with a little growl so please respect my feelings so you don’t get mad at me when I overreact. If you really want to do something with me take me for a walk. I love to walk and smell the great outside smells. I will leave everyone a p-mail and I hope to find some left for me. I will probably bark at other dogs but really I just get excited at the chance to meet them and hope they will be nice to me too. I really like other dogs, but I need a special connection with a dog to want to share my home with them. I like cats too as long as they don’t mind me sniffing them and maybe play a little chase sometimes. When it comes time to end the day I will probably eventually want to sleep on your big warm bed but maybe not every night. Sometimes I just like to sleep on the floor or on a nice soft comfy blanket. (Foster momma lets me sleep on her bathrobe). You don’t have to worry about me. I am so very well behaved. I don’t ever have to be crated, and frankly, I prefer to free roam. I’ll just sleep on the couch while you are out and greet you with my wiggle butt and cute little chirp when you get home. Thank you for reading my story. I really want to have a forever home so foster momma can help another rescue pup have a wonderful life. I love hearing my name.

xoxoxo
Cosmo

We hope Cosmo knew love at some point in his life before he came to us, but his most recent owners mistreated him which causes him to take a really long time to trust someone. He's been adopted and returned twice already, so we are certain the third time's the charm. If you're looking for a cuddly dog to take everywhere with you, Cosmo is not the one for you. He will be a great little companion, but he's not into cuddling or being overly affectionate. We are looking for a compassionate, patient family who will give Cosmo the space he requires to come around.

More about Cosmo:

- 9 and a half years young and full of spunk
- prefers to follow you around everywhere rather than be carried
- prefers an adult only home as babies and children make sudden movements that scare him
- would love a fenced in yard, but not a requirement (loves leash walks just as much)
- perfectly potty trained
- loves car rides and road trips
- no crating necessary

Please visit thankdogrescue.org/adopt to read about our adoption process and apply online.

We rarely adopt out of state and will consider NY, NJ, MA, RI only for our harder to place pups (those who have been in rescue for a while with zero or no interest).
