NOVEMBER - Walden has tons of energy. He’s sooooo playful and he really loves tug toys. He will sometimes jump up to get them so he might not be best in homes with small children. Walden is treat motivated and likes to show off his sit. He enjoys back scratches and getting lots of attention. He would benefit from an active home that can give him lots of playtime and work with him on basic manners training.
OCTOBER - Walden was found by some tennis courts in McKinley Park with another dog (Meg). He had a big red collar but sadly no ID tags on either of them. They didn’t appear to be in bad shape, it’s hard to believe they don’t have a family missing them. Walden is a big strong guy. He could use some help with his leash manners especially around other dogs. He just jumps right in there without any small talk like a friendly doofus. Walden can shrink down very small to fit into any lap out there. Sitting still, getting pets, was when he was at his happiest during our time together. He knows sit, takes treats like a gentleman, and can make anything into a game or a toy. On our way back inside we stopped by Meg’s cage and Walden was wagging his tail so hard he could’ve knocked us both over.
Walden has been tested for dog playgroup. He tries to hump his play partners at first but is deterred with some human correction. When he’s not trying to hump, he tends to peacefully coexist.
