Before applying for this dog, please think the decision over thoroughly and make sure the whole family is in agreement. Owning a dog is a HUGE responsibility that is not something that should be rushed into. Each dog from Rescued Treasures has been saved from an uncertain future. If you are thinking about adopting, please remember it is a LIFE-LONG commitment. Dogs can live to be at least 14 years old...are you ready to take care of him/her that long?

Hugo is a 90 lb Great Pyrenees mixed breed in search of his forever home. He was born January 15, 2015. Hugo’s caregivers are looking for that special someone that is patient and understanding of his needs and requirements of a mostly deaf dog and have a lot of love, time and attention to give him and keep him safe. A fenced yard is a must for Hugo.

Hugo is an affectionate and gentle loving boy and a HUGE cuddle bug! He loves people...men women and children alike. He gets along with most dogs after a proper introduction and does prefer non-dominant dogs. Training for Hugo’s acceptance of other dogs in the home would be required. He is also tolerant of most cats and can coexist with them. Cats who are known to playfully sneak attack will not be good for Hugo as he can not hear them coming.

Hugo walks wonderfully on a leash and is a great walking and hiking companion. His absolute favorite things are going for walks, car rides, being with people and treats! Hugo is friendly with all and greets people well. He is curious and smart, is a quick learner and very treat motivated making him highly trainable. He is attentive to people and is very adept of picking up signals of what is expected of him. Hugo knows sit, stay, no and down. He is house trained, neutered and up to date on vaccinations.

Since Hugo cannot hear what is going on around and behind him he is startled with young children running through the house causing him to be nervous and stressed as opposed to a calm and relaxing home so older children would be better suited to him.

Hugo is a great dog and so deserving of a good life and home...a wonderful happy boy..his tail wags non-stop!
