My story

Amelia, a gorgeous elegant orange & white lady-kitty was tormented by the children in her first home. She requires a permanent home that is quiet, loving and will give her the time she needs to learn to trust again. Pet parent understanding and patience is an absolute necessity for Amelia! Given the chance, she will become a loving kitty once again, for the right person/family. She is fervently hoping for the right person to come along to give her the kind of forever home she deserves. She is anxious around other cats/dogs so she needs to be the ONLY pet in her new home, and the home must be one WITHOUT young children in order for her to overcome her traumatic beginning.

Amelia is approximately 5 years old, vaccines, is FeLUK/FIV negative, has been spayed and is current on her vaccines. She is a "Special Needs" kitty because she suffers from feline PTSD.

Why adoption is a great option

Amelia Ginger, a Somerset Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Somerset, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Somerset.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Somerset already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Somerset breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Somerset paves the way for another one to be saved.
