My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Before calling about this dog, please read our adoption requirements at http://gsrne.org/requirements-for-adopting-from-gsrne

Tauschka is an active young female who always seems to be in motion; she loves to run after a toy, play with another dog, prance around while being brushed or grab a forbidden item and try to play keep-away. Her energy level is high, and she has to learn more self-control, so she needs an experienced German Shepherd person who will have the time and interest to give her hours of exercise and training every day. Having another dog in the family will really help.
During her time in foster care, she has been learning some manners and is no longer as mouthy as she was at first. She was used to getting her own way in her first home and has responded well to having some guidelines and consistent leadership. She will relinquish a toy to you on command; but if she has an item she’s not supposed to play with or eat, she’ll get a gleam in her eye and may run with it….everything is a game.
Tauschka’s first owners were elderly and realized they could not physically give her the exercise she needed. They did give her a lot of love and time at a doggie daycare once or twice a week, so she is comfortable around other dogs after a controlled introduction. They contacted GSRNE and asked that we find her a home where she could get training, regular walks, some vigorous games of fetch and an outlet like agility, nosework or tracking competition.
Her foster home was made to order, because there is daily doggie daycare to provide play time and experienced foster parents who have been providing training and structure. Tauschka is a little shy when meeting new people, but she warms up gradually after a proper introduction. She was comfortable with a 2-year-old grandson in her first home and would enjoy sharing his wading pool during the summer months. There are cats in her foster home, and she has been OK around them as long as they don’t run; giving chase is a real temptation, though.
Tauschka is now ready to move on to her forever home, and we’d like to find her an adopter who will give her opportunities to use her intelligence as well as giving her physical exercise on a daily basis. With her affectionate, happy and playful personality, she could be just the companion you’re looking for!
