Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I'm Alfie! I had a real rough start to life as my owner neglected me to the point of starvation and then decided to throw me out on the streets. I didn't know what to do until someone found me roaming near what used to be my home, and I was picked up and taken to the vet since I was confirmed discarded. I then found my way into Paws and Think Detroit foster program. After two months of rehabilitation and weight gain, I am finally ready to be placed in a permanent home. I have a slight limp when I walk because of the neglect and abuse I suffered in my past life. The vets think I may have this forever but I think it gives me character. I am very affectionate and want to be with my foster mom always. I love being brushed, especially on my neck and I even make little grunts!! My foster mom says I am super smart and really easy to train. I do really well in the house, I wait to be released to eat, and I even sit to get my paws wiped when I come in from the backyard. I am kennel trained and go right in when I am told. I even have a foster cat sibling and did really great with them after only one week. My FAVORITE game is fetch so I would love a nice fenced in yard to play the game in. I am still a little precocious with new guests in the house as my trust is still a little shaken from my previous situation. I might get uncomfortable at some new guests coming into the house and rumble a little but if they just give me my space I am fine with them. Outside the house, I may just shake a little with new strangers, but again, with time and training, I can learn to trust everyone and completely forget about the horrible past I lived. I hope to find my forever home and find unconditional love for the rest of my life. If you would like to meet me, please complete an application below:
