My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The first step in adopting me is to visit www.goboxerrescue.com and fill out the application to adopt.

Buddy is doing so well. His crate behaviors have improved, no more excessive drooling, licking and panting. He’s even had some sleepovers with our 15 year old son and no problems!
He’s done VERY well with the invisible fence, but he really goes outside to take care of business and then back inside. Especially on rainy days he’s quick with the business and hasn’t had any accidents inside or in crate. Even in the few nice weather days, he’s preferred to be in the house.
He understands sit, stay and comes when called. He’s always around someone and likes people of all ages. Buddy has a soft mouth and only drools with treats. He’s not food aggressive and permits to be touched even while eating (head, face). Buddy will share and drink water at the same time too. He is a social eater and takes his time and doesn’t rush to eat as sometimes he’ll look around to see if someone’s around admiring him.
He LOVES to play fetch, tug, chase, wrestle with humans or the other dog. He is strong and responds appropriately if a person yells, “Ow! Hey!...” when the play gets too rough (play biting) and he backs off. The other dog has never yelped or whined when they’ve done some hard core wrestling. Buddy also prefers to be touching or near someone while he rests either at the feet or next to the person. He’s been a good walker and stays close.
We continue to work on “leave it” as he is interested in the cat but that’s becoming less of an issue as he’s figured out everyone else pays more attention to him than the cat does. He has good manners but occasionally will give those eyes when something smells really good at the table. We have only had one incident of a food bag mysteriously appearing in another room and the bagels missing. Buddy will excuse himself to got sit down or lay down and wait till we are done eating when told to go lay down. His overall demeanor is more passive but he won’t let you forget about him. He will walk over and rest his mouth quietly on the cushion or persons leg till attention is given or is distracted.
He loves to chew still which was a great deterrent from all the trick or treaters last night. He is cautious and a protector as he’ll put himself in front of my legs with an unknown or if I’m talking with another. He eventually lays down to the side. Today he saw this slow, taunting deer grazing closer to the house and he almost lost his mind (with lots of help from the other dog too) but we pulled it together once it was out of sight, he truly forgot about it.

Remember, the first step in adopting any dog from GO Boxer Rescue is to fill out the on line application that you will find on the website: http://www.goboxerrescue.org.
