My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet George

Voted most likely to win an international Hide and Seek competition without even trying.

George is the cutest 9-week old Lab mix puppy with the softest black fur and cute face. He came to IL with his mom and siblings when the puppies were just 3 weeks old and he has been in foster homes since. George is currently fostered with one of his brothers and a much larger foster brother who he loves to play with when he can. He will bat at his much bigger foster brother tail and try to climb on top of him.

George is very curious and loves to explore. He was the first to follow the foster mom to the dog food bin and since then decided he ruled the house.
George is working on potty training and needs some encouragement to stay outside when it is cold. He is becoming quite the expert at using his puppy pads. At night he sleeps in a playpen and is just starting to get crated. George is very food motivated and quickly learned when food appears in his bowl after going outside.

He is living in a foster family with kids and has had many visitors. He is easy going with strangers and lets anyone pick him up and snuggle him. George is working on his manners and like all puppies, he nips and chews when he is playing.

He loves toys and especially things that squeak or bones he can chew on and really work those sharp puppy teeth. George will also be sure to bring you your shoes if you leave them unattended. If you need a reason to pick up after yourself George is your pup. Are you ready to meet George? He is ready to meet you.

Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies.

Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a “teen” or adult dog.

Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.

We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details.

Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
