Harvey has an interesting back story. He is one of the shelter’s favorites and you will see why. We received a call to come pick up this large dog that had made himself comfortable in some clothes at a local thrift shop on one of the coldest days in January 2017. When we went to retrieve him, he made it very clear he did not want to go. Can you blame him? It was in the 20’s and sleeting. After a few treats and reassurance we were going to take good care of him, he let an Oakdale Police Officer escort him to a volunteer’s vehicle. We put him in the back of the van and as soon as the doors shut, he jumped the seats and made himself comfortable on the volunteer’s, then 14 year old, son’s lap. Harvey was adopted but recently was picked back up. We were called to come pick up a dog that was tied out without shelter. As soon as the volunteer’s got to him, they immediately recognized him and he recognized them. Harvey was happy to get back into that red van, lol. He loves to ride in vehicles. Harvey is a 6 year old pit mix that has no idea he is as big as he is. He truly believes he is a lap dog and will bulldoze you while playing in the yard. Harvey does not want to be an outside dog, that was obvious the day we picked him up in the back of the thrift store. Harvey requires a fenced in yard (Mandatory). He also will need to be allowed to ride in your vehicle often. He loves to play fetch and just run and play. Because of his size and his silliness we recommend a family with older kids that can play with him.
